Author Biography
Jiri Anderle was born in 1936 in the Czech Republic. His work was exhibited for the first time at the Guests of the Hollar House exhibition in Prague in 1962. In 1968 he exhibited for the first time in the USA: Recent Graphics from Prague, Corcoran Gallery, Washington, D.C. (Jan and Meda Mladek Collection). He has staged solo exhibitions at venues such as the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm (1982), the Prague National Gallery (1995), the Imperial Stables of Prague Castle (1996), the Cincinnati Art Museum (2008), the Prague City Gallery (2009) and Municipal House, Prague (2016-17). His work is represented in the collections of many museums and galleries in the Czech Republic and other countries. In 2004 he received the prestigious Vladimir Boudnik Prize for his lifetime contribution to Czech graphic art. In 2006 he was awarded the Medal of Merit by the Czech President for his contribution to Czech culture and art.
