Since her immigration from Hungary in 1960, Katinka Daniel has been involved in music education in the United States, developing curricula, training teachers, teaching students and inspiring countless individuals with her knowledge, musical skill, enthusiasm and energy. In Hungary, Daniel was mentored in her teaching by Jenoe Adam, who wrote what came to be known in the United States as the Kodaly Method. Daniel developed a music curriculum based on the Kodaly concept that is still in use today. This book relates the history of the music methodology from it's beginnings in Hungary as conceived by Zoltan Kodaly and then adapted for use in the United States by Katina Daniel. The methodology is described in detail with references to the interest generated through Daniel's materials and presentations. Katinka Daniel continues to inspire music educators with her teaching, her published materials and her story. This book is of interest to teachers, students and researchers interested in the heritage of the Kodaly concept of music education in the United States.
