Richard N. Fogoros, MD is a former professor of medicine and a longtime medical practitioner, researcher and author in the fields of cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology. He currently makes his living as a consultant with biomedical companies, and as a writer. Since 2000 he has written a patient-oriented website on heart disease for About.com (http: //heartdisease.about.com). In 2012 he was named to the ShareCareNow list of Top 10 Online Influencers On Heart Disease. As the acerbic DrRich, Fogoros has authored The Covert Rationing Blog (http: //covertrationingblog.com) since 2007. His blog won the Medical Blog Award as the Best Health Policy and Ethics Blog in 2011. His books include Electrophysiologic Testing (1990, 1994, 1999, 2006, and 2012), Antiarrhythmic Drugs: A Practical Guide (1997 & 2006), and the award-winning Fixing American Healthcare - Wonkonians, Gekkonians and the Grand Unification Theory of Health Care (2007).
