The work of the department has been carried on under the same organization that was effected by the ordinance of 1906, and is as follows: The money assigned for the work of the department for the past year was as follows: First. - Maintenance: From the income of the city raised by taxes. Prior to the commencement of the financial year, February 1, the department estimates of the amounts necessary for the proper maintenance of the department are submitted to His Hor the Mayor, who makes such recommendations as he deems proper to the City Council.
