Opening Statement Of Chairman Donald W. Riegle, Jr. The Chairman. The committee will come to order. Let me welcome all those in attendance this morning and particularly our minee and our colleague. Senator Wofford who is here. Let me just make a brief comment. I will t make my entire opening comment. I will save that so that we can allow Senator Wofford to make his introductory remarks. This morning the committee is meeting to consider the mination of Eugene Allan Ludwig to be the Comptroller of the Currency. Before we begin the hearing I want to anunce for the record that as members arrive they will be recording their votes on favorably reporting the minations of Terrence Duvernay to be Deputy Secretary of HUD, and Jean Nolan to be an Assistant Secretary of HUD. If there is objection to proceeding in this manner, we will begin the period for voting w and it will extend until this hearing concludes. If a quorum is established in that time, the final vote will be anunced as we adjourn and the minations of Terry Duvernay and Jean Nolan will be reported to the full Senate later. Mr. Chairman, I want to thank you and this committee for giving me the opportunity and pleasure to introduce Eugene Ludwig who has been minated by the President of the United States to serve as Comptroller of the Currency.
