Excerpt: John Frelinghuysen (1727 September 5, 1754) was a minister in colonial New Jersey. Frelinghuysen was the 2nd son of Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen (16911748), who emigrated from Holland in 1720. John married Dinah Van Bergh (17251807), and they had two children: Eva Frelinghuysen (1751 c. 1826), Major General Frederick Frelinghuysen (17531804). John lived in the Old Dutch Parsonage in Somerville, New Jersey until his death where he served three local congregations. He also tutored students preparing them for the seminary.
