With this much power, care is required. The Makita XDT14 (known locally as the DTD154) is a powerful impact driver. I'm used to using my cordless drill acting as a screwdriver. It does a good job, but ties it up and challenges me to keep swapping when I need to drill and drive many times for a job. Having the impact driver helps to alleviate the problem to some degree. The DTD154 has three times the torque that of my drill, so without care, I can easily shear the heads of screws or drive the screws deep into panels. Having 3 torque ranges give me excellent control and the extra fine speed control (better than my drill!) via the trigger takes the hard work out of the job. Being Makita, I know it's going to last and withstand heavy work. I thoroughly recommended tool.

The Makita XDT14z (I believe it is the same as the DTD152 sold locally) great tool and I don’t know how I worked without it. It is light weight and compact, easy to get into tight locations. I have been using it for putting in baton screw and it does it without problems. Using the auto mode allows screwing in smaller wood screws without ripping off the heads. However, it does not have enough torque to undo wheel nuts. The only down side is that it get quite warm when inserting a large number of 100mm baton screws

Great impact driver with plenty of grunt. Excellent build quality with no vibration when driving in large screws. Bonus with 3 different speed settings so you set it on low to fix plasterboard without going through it or high to drive in 100mm bugle screws.

Three speeds is a great improvement on what was a good tool to begin with. The slow-down feature is also a great way to set screws flush in timber.
