Author Biography
Co-authors Judi Suni Hall, PhD. and Donald S. Hall, PhD. have shared their lives and careers since marrying as undergrads. They both did PhD.'s in theoretical physics, then moved into industry and worked at AECL, Canada's nuclear research lab. Judi spent her career first designing reactor safety systems, then as an industrial risk analyst . As Technical Director of AECL's risk analysis consultancy Judi worked with a number of industries, including the Canadian Space Agency. Her fascination with space began then. Don started his career in instrumentation and control then shifted to artificial intelligence His research on expert systems led to collaboration with some of Canada's top AI researchers. Their lives were changed by a severely disabling virus and 10 years were a write off. Don now runs Apps & More Software Design developing scheduling software for the Mac and mental health software for the iPhone and iPad. He has the caregiver role as Judi is still severely disabled. They began writing science fiction for their own pleasure, both for the fun of creating the story line, and to try to extend current technology to the far future. It was natural for them to use their background in physics and in industry when creating the Gingezel series. It took twelve years to finish the first four epic novel series, so of course they could not anticipate the reactor accident in Japan that suddenly made this series so timely. In addition to writing science fiction, Judi and Don are internationally published haiga poets, artists, and award winning surface designers.
