I married two aviators, one after the other, but had never been interested in aviation per se until I found the little book called Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. I immediately purchased ten copies to send to beloved women in my life, who have all cherished the book as I did, for its comments on the mother-daughter-human condition. I then purchased The Aviator's Wife on the strength of needing to know more about this amazing woman who married the genius aviator, Charles A. Lindbergh. I am only halfway into this book, but Reeve writes every bit as beautifully and gently as her mother about a life that few people would have had to manage. I think the cover photo says it all - the image of the father figure overarching the two women who were completely in his thrall - and the wonder and magic of becoming airborne. Read full review
