This is an excellent story about Richard's journey from a very successful publisher to living on the streets. (Having been in a similar situation in life, I can totally relate.) Richard's story needs to be heard. The general public does not understand the trials and affect this situation can have on a person. Richard's story is so well written, the reader has the opportunity to "fully get" and understand Richard's plight. This should be a must read by counselors, therapists, police officers, ministers and all those who cross paths with homeless and/or those in need. The homeless culture is so different that any other life experiences.
I think that this book is an eye opener because it shines a light on the issue of homelessness. I think it helps a reader to remember that homeless people ARE PEOPLE with feelings. I think it shows how, even when homeless, some people still try to give of themselves, sharing their talents, and are kind people. I also think it makes one realize that becoming homeless could happen to many people that would have never seen it coming. I enjoyed reading about each character in the book.
What an inspirational book. Puts a new face on the Homeless Community. After reading this book I passed it on to my friends & family. Richards life experience throughout the book make you thankful for all you have, while making you aware that even though they are homeless they are still people. I read the book in 3 days, wanting to see what happened next, and the illustrations help to put a human face to the homeless community.
