So I had this old Korg M1 ..from back when I thought I was Herbie Hancock (as If, right?) Been sitting up for years and of course the internal battery died ..and all sound was gone! After scouring the internet for solutions, found one that required midi interface-came here and found this...price was right...but would it work? Boy..,did it!!! Used the popular software, these cables to my PC, set the synth up and BAM!! Back in Business! This interface didn't even need special drivers; Windows 10 instantly recognized and configured it ..no muss no fuss. I highly recommend this product. There are more expensive ones out there ..but why pay more than you have to? The seller here was pretty cool too i

This converter does not come with opto-isolator so you will have to sorder it yourself if it does not work. I use nte3098 from my local frys but pc123 should work. You will need to add the optoisolator, remove r11, add 220 ohm to r5, and remove the black wire from ground and sorder it to the spared IN terminal. If you don't have sordering gun available then don't bother buying this

I bought this for my dad who lives over 340 away. He wanted to be able to record or play music from his keyboard to his computer. This is great option for people who have older keyboards/synthesizers and want to use them for midi controllers instead of having to purchase an expensive interface. After some very intensive troubleshooting over the phone, he was able to get everything setup w/ an older version of GarageBand.

The USB In-Out Midi cable works perfectly for my personal needs. For reference I use a Casio CTK-574 keyboard instead of a MIDI controller. I run on various software on a Windows 10 Lenovo laptop. Software that works for me includes Cakewalk and Anvil Studio, which allows you to mix voices and professional sounding effects. Make layered recodings and drop them into Amplitube, another free app for processing and adding tremendous depth and realism. Setup was easy and instantly recognized on my laptop without having to download any drivers. Highly recommended for entry-level casual players like me. I can't speak for people who play live in a band but I love it for my own personal creative expressions.

It's ok with windows 7 but it seems that the driver is not appropriate for windows 10. Although windows 10 recognise and install the driver, in the DAW (studio one, Cubase) and even in KONTAKT stand alone i can't play the keyboard which i have connected. It only plays a few of the 88 notes and some of them are assigned to specific cc data (after touch, portamento etc) instead of just being assigned to plain keyboard notes. I followed exactly the same procedure in my other music computer with the same programmes etc with windows 7 and everything seems to be working as supposed to
